About
Research-grade methods. Industrial scars.
System Sciences grew out of the Institute of Systems Theory and Control at the University of Stuttgart and the day-to-day reality of large-scale industrial projects. That combination is the whole product: I know what the literature can do and what a project deadline does to it.
Dr.-Ing. Dieter Schwarzmann, M.Sc.
Over 15 years of experience as a project lead, subject-matter expert and manager in systems engineering in the automotive industry — from driver assistance functions to the methodical development of control and signal processing algorithms. Alongside consulting work, I teach the control engineering specialization course in the Master's program at the University of Stuttgart, which keeps the methods — and the questions — fresh.
University of Stuttgart roots
The venture continues the work of “Systemwissenschaften”, a spin-off of the University of Stuttgart's Institute of Systems Theory and Control — the institute led by Prof. Frank Allgöwer, a name synonymous with model predictive control.
Backed by TTI GmbH
Contracting, invoicing and the boring-but-important parts run through TTI – Technologie-Transfer-Initiative GmbH an der Universität Stuttgart — the technology-transfer company at Nobelstraße 15 in Stuttgart, the same address as the institute, for what that's worth.
Knowledge transfer only counts when it changes what your engineers ship. That is the standard every engagement is measured against.
How I work
Four commitments
1 — Understand the problem first
Before any method is proposed, I want to understand your constraints, your data and what “done” means for you.
2 — Methodologically clean
Results that can be reproduced, validated and explained — not demo magic that breaks in the field.
3 — Written down
Every engagement delivers documentation your organization keeps: analyses, assumptions, code, results.
4 — Honest scope
If a problem doesn't need a consultant, or not this consultant, I say so. Recommendations are neutral by design — I sell no tools.
